The thesis
State of the art (2026)
In June 2026 longevity science crossed from preclinical promise into the clinic. Life Biosciences dosed the first patient with ER-100 - the first FDA-cleared partial epigenetic reprogramming therapy (OSK gene therapy for optic neuropathies) - on 9 June, while Altos Labs (still private, Bezos- and Milner-backed) edged towards its own trials. Retro Biosciences raised at a $1.8B valuation in May and is running RTR242, an autophagy pill in Alzheimers, with first data due around August. Loyals canine drug LOY-002 has FDA acceptance of two of three technical sections, eyeing a 2026 launch. The unresolved question remains whether reversing a biological-age clock translates into clinical benefit; no geroprotector is yet approved on an aging indication.
